Warpface Chevron Pattern Fingerweaving
[ Point Down ]

Warpface Chevron (point down)[YouTube]

Introduction

The point down chevron pattern is made by combining two diagonal patterns on opposite diagonals. One diagonal pattern is worked from the middle to the right. The othe diagonal pattern is worked from the middle to the left.

The point down chevron pattern is worked so that the point of the chevron is pointed away from the headstick.

To produce a chevron pattern, at least two colors of yarn are needed. Also, there must be an even number of yarn strands of each color.

The strands are cast on to the headstick so that the left and right sides of the work piece have bands of color that are mirror images of each other.

This tutorial will deal with a (point down) chevron pattern.

[NOTE] The warpface chevron pattern can also be produced so that the point of the chevron is pointed toward the headstick (point up).

Pick up the shed with the left hand so that ----

  • --- the first strand that is to the left of the middle is in the top layer of the shed.

  • --- the first strand that is to the right of the middle is in the bottom layer ot the shed.

  • [NOTE] By working from the fixed end toward the free end of the weft strand, the warp strands will be placed near their final positions. This means that less minipulation of individual warp stands is required to get them in their final position.

  • Check the warp strands to see that they are snug, even, and parallel.
