Headstick Configuration |
||
Setting up the head stick follows several rules:
|
||
The over under configuration of the warp strands on the headstick is determined by the configuration of the two middle warp strands of the arrowhead color.
There are four configurations of the two middle warp strands. [NOTE] The choice of which headstick configuration to use is determined by the desired arrrowhead pattern and the additional weaving elements that are to be used in conjunction with the basic arrowhead configuration. |

[OBSERVE] The barb on the left side of the arrowhead is slightly longer then the barb on the right side. This is because one more warp strand is visible on the surface of the left hand side. |

A second configuration is the warp strand to the right of the middle is in the top layer of the shed. [NOTE] Turning this configuration over horizontaly shifts the top layer middle warp strand to the left side. |
[OBSERVE] The barb on the right hand side of the arrowhead is slightly longer then the barb on the left hand side. This is because one more warp strand is visible on the surface of the right hand side. |

[NOTE] When the “two top” shed layer configuration is turned over horizontally it become the “two bottom” shed layer configuration. |
[OBSERVE] The barbs on both sides of the arrowhead are the same length. This is because the same number of warp strands are visible on the surface of both barbs. |
