Introduction

Diagnal interlaced fingerweaving is known by a number of other names. Some of the names are; openface, basket weave, oblique or simply fingerweaving.

Diagnal interlaced fingerweaving has no warp and weft strands. Its structure is composed of two diagonal layers. One layer crosses the workpiece from the left hand side to the right hand side. The other layer crosses the workpiece from the right hand side to the left hand side. As the two layers are interlaced, the strands of one layer cross the strands of the other layer with an over/under configuration. Also, as each strand reaches the edge of the workpiece it is turned back into the workpiece on the opposite diagonal and layer.

This tutorial will deal with four basic ways to start a diagnal interlaced fingerweaving project.

[NOTE] There are other ways to start a diagnal interlaced fingerweaving project, but they are more likley to produce mistakes.
